I Am Who I Am, and I Wouldn’t Change It for the World

Hello everyone, and welcome!!

My name is Khloé Quintana. I was born on August 21st, 1995 in the greater Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks, California with a neurologic condition known as Spastic Infantile Cerebral Palsy — as a child, this meant minimal motor control, even described as a vegetative state. Through therapy, swim classes, and the grace of God, I gained the ability to walk with assisted devices and move around independently. Throughout my life, I’ve undergone countless hardships ranging from personal to medical though that has never stopped me from living out my passions.

Since I before I can even remember, I’ve had a love for the performing arts. I began at the age of 3 and have yet to stop! Over the years I’ve been in several stage productions (Hairspray!, The Sound of Music, and The Wiz to name a few!),  and competed at choir competitions at the national level at locations such as the historic Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Illinois. I have also made appearances on nationally broadcasted TV shows such as Everyday Health on ABC 7, and even internationally on Azteca America’s Entré Nos con Patricia Arbulú.

While I do use a wheelchair, one of my closest friends likes to say, “I don’t let my wheels get in my way!” Life has given me so many opportunities and the chance to meet so many talented, blessed individuals who push boundaries in each and every way imaginable.

It is my wish that through my accomplishments, goals, and endless dreams that I can both educate people on what it means to live a differently-abled life as well as help break down the barriers and sterotypes that society has created for individuals affected by various disabilities. I may not be able to change the world, but I’ll sure try – one turn of a wheel at a time.
